Dottie Jax

Syphmag's sensitive, furious darling, whose breathtaking features are (thankfully for us) rarely seen in the good graces sunlight or joy, came to us out of the dark recesses of Toronto in the beginning days of our magazine, and has been at our side ever since. As a founding contributor and writer of Dottie Jax; D.J. G.P.; & Tiny Tommy Comics, Dottie experiences such perks as occasionally unpaid secretary work, all-too-common peace making duties, and disordered, cantankerous zine distribution.

'D.J. G.P.' is a side project belonging to Dottie Jax. The start of a random, often common saying is typed within quotions into a popular search engine, and the first 15-50 resulting quotations listed under each link are compiled in chronological order. Neither the arrangements of the words nor the words themselves are altered in any way; each quotation begins exactly as it was found, and each quotation ends where Dottie cuts it off. The resulting 'remixes' of the words of unsuspecting strangers are often poignant, startling, and emotionally unsettling.*

*As vinyl recordings and turntable equipment can be quite expensive, this method of "sampling" publicly displayed writings of others into original creative product can be best described as "waif-styles alt-lit disc-jockeying", or WSALDJ.
